| UPDATE: I put up a 2nd review with some things I noticed after owning it a week. Be sure to visit ONEBADKID.COM Can you use this TV as a cheap 4K monitor?!? Adapter Used on Mac: Accell (B086B-008B-2) UltraAV Mini DisplayPort 1.1 to HDMI 1.4 Active Adapter - AMD Eyefinity Certified NOTE: I had to upgrade firmware on the monitor before 4K would work with my computer 1. Download firmware from Seiki site (seikidigital.com/support/downloads.php) 2. Unzip the file and put the IMG file on a FAT formatted USB Stick 3. Turn off the TV and put in the stick 4. Turn on the TV and go to the service menu by pressing "MENU 0 0 0 0" 5. Pick the upgrade option 6. Takes about 5 minutes to flash 7. Profit This monitor works great with my Mac Book Pro Retina running 10.8.x. I only had to buy the Accell Adapter that I mentioned above. Very seamless and simple. UPDATE: I just upgraded to mavericks osx 10.9. I thought I might be able to directly connect the HDMI of the MAC to the monitor and get the 4k resolutions. That did not work. I will have to investigate that more. |
