Yesterday I hit my one year mark of elevator photography. Since I was not able to film the elevator that started it all, I thought I would upload something epic for you all to enjoy! This right here is a great example of how antique elevators, when well maintained, are superior to newer ones. You don't have to worry about the call stations or COP flexing when you push the buttons, the ride quality is noticeably better, minus the stopping, and all of the original parts are of excellent quality and made in America. Part of the reason this elevator is in good condition is because it is faster and easier to take the stairs, and quite frankly, I believe most people are afraid of riding it. Now for more details: This elevator features classic Otis equipment, which I am sure everyone watching this wants to see (I am trying to find the right person to ask). The cab is obviously straight out of the 1950s with an awesome looking brass door frame, brass COP featuring the original Otis components, and brass indicator with red illumination. The best part is the roto-dial on all of the call buttons. The original Otis single-speed motor does not level the elevator, it simply stops abruptly, which can startle some passengers if they are not aware of it. With the exception of the ADA compliant phone, fire service, and an emergency light, this elevator remains completely original from when it was installed in 1950. == Location == Name of Building: Storey Hall Building Address: 3315 Daniel Avenue City, State: Dallas, Texas Location In Building: In the basement there is a room that has a sign that says "Mechanical". The elevator is in there, along with some vending machines. Access: Easy - Medium Obstacles: You shouldn't have too many issues here, last time I was here one passenger didn't mind but I weirded out a mail carrier. == Technical Specs == Brand: Otis Equipment Type: Passenger Elevator Door Type: Manual Swinging Outer Door and Two-Speed Automatic Inner Door Car Openings: 1 Controls: Automatic Push Button Drive System: Traction Floors Served: 5 Fixtures: 1950s Otis Black Button Capacity: 2,000 lbs Speed: 50 FPM Installed: 1950 Modernized: No, and there is no need to. |
Just and update and brief tour of the 2012 Toyota Sienna SE and 2008 Toyota Solara SLE. While I'm at it, I thought I would give a brief history of the 3.3 Liter 3MZ-FE V6 in the Solara since I mentioned that it wasn't used too much. Below is a list of all the vehicles it was used in: 2004-2008 Toyota Solara 2004-2006 Toyota Camry SE 2004-2006 Toyota Sienna 2004-2007 Toyota Highlander 2004-2006 Lexus ES330 2004-2006 Lexus RX330 Chronologically, the 3.3 Liter slots in between the 3.0 1MZ-FE V6 and the 3.5 2GR-FE V6. |
